My IntrestsMy name is Jordyn Ross and some of my interests involve writing, sketching, and reading. I think sketching really allows you to enhance your creativity and help you develop hand-eye coordination. Art in general is very important because your only limit is your mind. For some people, art is like a form of therapy because it can reduce stress and anxiety. It can also help you acknowledge and recognize feelings that have been hidden in your subconscious. Some of my other hobbies would be writing and reading. I personally love to write stories because it allows me to get lost in my imagination. Imagine having the power to create entire universes and entirely new people just from out of the depths of your own brain. Imagine having the ability to paint images in people’s minds using words that are black and white and to make them cry and laugh and feel all sorts of things just with your words.
Reading is also just as powerful as writing because with a book you can travel anywhere you want to go. You can literally escape the real world simply by opening a book. You can actually understand what the characters are saying and feeling and you don't need wifi or headphones or a device. I started reading from a young age and began writing when I was about 10. I loved that I could create my own world and I still do.

Some of my academic interests would be biology, chemistry, and STEM. Biology interests me because it allows you to gain a better understanding of all living organisms on our planet and more. It is a practical science that goes in depth about all living things, such as humans, animals and plants. Chemistry is just as interesting and creative as biology. Chemistry is also sometimes called the "central science" because it connects the other sciences to each other, such as biology, physics, geology, and environmental science. It helps you understand the world and is very useful. Those two academic interests will help me with my future career as a radiologist. A 21st century skill that involves that interest would be Communication Skills. I would need communication skills because as a radiologist I must be able to communicate well with other medical, non-medical staff, and with their patients. The project in Algebra that involved making a slideshow in a group also involved communication skills because you were working together and had to discuss everything for the project. The last thing I am academically interested in would be STEM which stands for “Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics”. I like solving problems, studying real-world problems and solving them through project-based learning.

I have big dreams for my future for example, becoming a radiologist, building my dream house, and I also have a bucket list of different things to do. I want to be a radiologist because it relates to biology and chemistry. They are medical doctors that specialize in diagnosing and treating injuries and diseases using X-rays, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine, positron emission tomography, and ultrasound.

Some places I want to travel to would be the “Enchanted River” in the Philippines. It’s called enchanted because no one has ever reached its bottom. Many people including scuba divers have tried, but failed. Other than that, there are many other things that I would like to do in my lifetime such as visit the glowworm caves in New Zealand, visit the hidden beaches in Marieta Islands, visit Santorini Greece, stay in an underwater hotel in Fiji, go to the fairy pools in Scotland, swim in the mineral baths in Italy, See the tulip fields in Holland, see the Great Pyramids, see the Northern Lights, and much more.

My Friends & FamilyIn my opinion, I feel like all my friends and family have different personalities and perspectives on things. I have different friends that fit with different parts of my personality, if that makes sense. I’m close to very few people, but those few people mean a lot to me. My mom has always told me it was better to have a few friends that you can trust with your life, then have a hundred friends that you can't trust and that would walk out of your life at the first sign of trouble. So my friendship circle might be small, but as they say, it's better to have quality not quantity. The difficulties of the coronavirus definitely brought my family and I closer even though I wish it was under different circumstances.
